Sen. Higdon to offer marijuana, expungement bills


State Sen. Jimmy Higdon wants to give prosecutors and judges more freedom in sentencing drug offenders and police officers less leeway in charging marijuana users.

The Lebanon Republican, whose 14th District includes Nelson County, said Thursday night he has about 20 bills ready to file for the 30-day 2019 regular session of the legislature that begins Tuesday, including a bill to expand an expungement law he previously got passed and another to decriminalize pot.
