Hello! I’m glad you’re considering becoming a member of the site. You may have some questions, though, so let me try to answer them.
Why should I sign up?
Signing up as a member of ForwardKY gives you access to a number of perks, depending on what level of membership you choose. In addition, paying members help keep the site up and running, so we continue to be a progressive voice for Kentucky politics.

What do I get for becoming a member?
As I said, there are different perks for different levels. Here’s the breakdown:
- Non-members get access to almost all the content on the site.
- Free members also get the weekly newsletter. (Here’s a sample.)
- Patrons get three additional perks: the ability to leave comments on articles, the ability to opt in to getting Action Alerts (Here's a sample), and no ads when they visit the site – all this for $5 a month or $55 a year. (Note that all the annual memberships give you a free month.)
- Patron Plus gives you two additional perks:
- The Daily Wrap, a M-F newsletter that summarizes everything published that day plus important stories from other sources. (Here’s a sample.)
- The email version of Bruce’s Take, special articles written by our publisher, Bruce Maples.
- Partner adds access to our Bill Tracker pages, where we track all the bills of the General Assembly and their progress, including which ones we support or oppose. (Here’s a screen shot.)
- And Partner Plus adds the KYGA Update, a Tues-Sat newsletter that summarizes everything that happened the day before in the General Assembly, and includes the schedule for that day. (Here’s a sample.)
Finally, in response to some members who want to increase their support even further, there is the Sustainer membership, which includes all the perks of Partner Plus but also gets you added to our Sustainer Wall.
How to customize your membership
If you are only interested in one or two of the perks above, you can customize your membership and save some money. First, put your membership at the Patron level, then once you are logged into the site as a member, go to the Membership Add-On page and select the add-on you want. They’re priced like this:
- Bruce’s Take mail – $11 a year
- The Daily Wrap newsletter – $22 a year
- Access to the Bill Trackers – $33 a year
- The KYGA Update newsletter – $44 a year
So, how do I sign up?
It’s easy! Just click the Subscribe button in the upper right of any page, OR click the button below. Once you do, you should see a popup page with all the options. (Wait on the popup.) Enter your name and email, choose the membership level you want, choose the newsletters you want to receive, and enter your credit card information. That’s it!
AND, if you aren’t sure, you can choose the 30-day free trial to see if membership is for you. At the end of the 30 days, you can cancel at no cost, or you can continue into your paid membership.
And, once you are a member, you don’t have to remember a password! Just enter the email you signed up with, and you’ll get a log-in link or a special code.
