Marshall County GOP invites NRA pres to speak at Fancy Farm dinner

Less than seven months after a school shooting at Marshall County High left two dead and fourteen wounded, the Marshall County GOP has invited the president of the National Rifle Association to speak at their Fancy Farm dinner.

Oliver NorthThe page announcing the event features Colonel Oliver North as their main speaker, and notes that he is the current president of the NRA.

A local teacher at Marshall County High, Chris Kerrick, asked the local GOP group to reconsider their choice of speaker, saying that having the NRA president in Marshall County seemed “callous” and disrespectful of the victims of the shooting and of the community. However, the Marshall County GOP party leadership refused to reconsider, and said Kerrick was just trying to make “political hay” out of the event.
