After some weeks of making sure everything was ready, ForwardKY is publishing on both Apple News and Medium.

The Apple News publishing is fairly straightforward (heh), once we got the account set up and the plug-in to work. We’re using the same sections on Apple News that we use here: News, Commentary, Policy, Action, and Media. We won’t be sending Meta posts to Apple News, and not every PubBlog post will go there either; only those things we think people will want to see on their phone or tablet.

Medium, on the other hand, is a little more complicated. There is a Medium plugin for WordPress, but it doesn’t offer the capability to only publish certain articles (as far as I could tell). So, we’re going to publish manually for now, which is something of a pain. Add to that the fact that the Medium editing facility is pretty barebones (by design), and it becomes even more of a struggle to cross-post.

But, because we think Medium is an important medium (I’m on a roll), we’re going to cross-post when we think something is either important enough or special enough to justify the work. Ultimately, of course, our goal is just to expand our reach, because expanding our reach is the same as making our progressive voice louder.

So, if you are on Apple News or Medium or both, check us out.
