The activist group Together Frankfort is taking part in Frankfort’s Christmas Parade on Friday, December 7th. And they’re doing more than walking and handing out candy – they are singing “My Favorite Things” with new progressive lyrics!

From their press release:

We plan to sing our very special stylized version of “A Few of My Favorite Things.” What are some of our favorite things? Healthcare for all, marriage equality, a clean environment, campaign finance reform — and many other wondrous treasures of a real democracy. One of our amazing Together Frankfort coordinators, Margaret Townsley, has redrafted & refined Oscar Hammerstein’s lyrics to Richard Rogers’ tune. You will not want to miss the chance to debut this rendition to Frankfort’s citizens!

We will have our rehearsal on Monday, Dec. 3, 5:30 PM, at Completely Kentucky’s 2nd Floor Meeting room. You do NOT have to sing if you want to participate. You can distribute candy or carry a sign for us. But we do want you to be cheerful and in the spirit of love and compassion (while also supporting democracy and resisting fascism, while we’re at it). Join us for the rehearsal so you’ll be familiar with the lyrics and the performance.

The parade steps off at 7 PM, but the group is meeting at 5 PM in order to be in place by 5:30 PM. If you are interested in participating, let them know at their Facebook event page, or sign up using this link.
