Early voting in Kentucky ended on Saturday. Here’s the numbers from the Secretary of State’s office:

  • Thursday – 225,696
  • Friday – 229,944
  • Saturday – 200,637

That’s a total of 656,277 persons voting on those three days, which is much higher than in previous years.

In addition, 130,695 persons requested absentee ballots. Add those in, and you’ve got a potential pre-Tuesday vote of 786,972. Then add in persons who voted “in-person excused absentee,” and SOS Adams says that 792,476 Kentuckians have voted early in one form or another.

That’s out of 3,548,407 total registered voters in the state. So, before we get to Tuesday, we’ve had a turnout of over 22%.

In 2020, a total of 2,099,120 Kentuckians voted, for a turnout percentage of 59%. It looks like we will exceed that number this year.
