Pension crisis: Bevin blew it

There is political arrogance, and there is leadership. And if Governor Bevin truly wanted to fix the pensions, he should have shown less arrogance and more leadership.

Is Andy Barr’s campaign in trouble?

Republican leadership in Washington is concerned that some incumbents are not taking the threat of a "blue wave" seriously enough, and that they could be vulnerable this fall. Is Andy Barr one of those "problem members"?

How much Dem swing do we need to take back the...

I enjoy working with statistics and spreadsheets. So, after all the recent talk of a "blue wave" this fall, I wanted to see just how much of a swing we would need across Kentucky to take back the Kentucky House. In this post, I'll share what I found, as well as the spreadsheet I used, so you can run your own scenarios.

Hey Louisville – look what you missed out on, by losing...

It was always a long shot, but Louisville city leaders gave it the old college try. They put together a package to try to land the second Amazon headquarters, but didn't make the finals. As it turns out, perhaps that is actually a good thing. Maybe a VERY good thing.

ACTION: Tell your reps to say No to the ConCon!

The ACLU of Kentucky is joining the national ACLU in urging all of us to contact our state reps to tell them "Say NO to the proposed Constitutional Convention!" Here is an easy way to do just that!
Rachel Maddow

The Ten Hallmarks of American Democracy

Soon after the 2016 election, Rachel Maddow listed ten hallmarks of American Democracy that make it uniquely American. If any of these are threatened or eliminated, we have lost a key part of our national character, and a key freedom that we cannot take for granted.

Louisville residents, take the Resilience survey

Just completed a survey from the Resilience office of Metro Government. Interesting survey, with some good questions. At the end, they said to share with "anyone who might be interested in taking the survey." So, if you are in Louisville and want to add your input, here's the link.
