Project 2025 is a 900-page document prepared by the Heritage Foundation as a plan for the next “conservative” administration. It is a policy document, and as such is extremely dense and difficult to parse.
Fortunately, it has garnered enough attention that multiple people and organizations have slogged through it and pulled out the actual policy proposals. And they range from bad to scary to fascistic.
Here, then, is a list of what the Project 2025 authors want to accomplish if Donald Trump is elected in November.
Government and justice takeover
- Purge the government of thousands of civil servants and replace them with unqualified far-right MAGA loyalists
- Send the Justice Department after Trump’s political enemies
- Send the U.S. military after anti-Trump protests
- Pardon violent January 6 criminal insurrectionists
- Pack the Supreme Court and lower courts with MAGA extremists
Reproductive rights
- Enact a national abortion ban and restrict IVF access
- Reverse the FDA’s approval of abortion medication
- Remove mentions of “abortion” and “reproductive health” from agency materials
Student debt
- Reverse President Biden’s student debt forgiveness
- Reinstate student debt on millions of Americans
Wealthy vs everyone else
- Give tax handouts to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations
- Eliminate union and worker protections
- Cut Social Security, raise retirement age
Healthcare
- Cut and privatize Medicare
- Rip away health care from tens of millions
- Remove protections for preexisting conditions
- Repeal President Biden's law that allows Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices
Education
- • Abolish the Department of Education
- • Implement and expand book bans
LGBTQ rights
- Go after marriage equality
- Repeal anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ students
- Reinstate Trump’s transgender military ban and expel transgender service members
The climate crisis
- End climate protections and gut clean energy programs
- Withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement
- Replace climate advisors with fossil fuel lobbyists
- Deregulate big corporations and the oil industry
- Repeal the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden’s landmark climate law
Immigration
- Put immigrants in mass detention camps
- Rip immigrant children from the arms of their mothers
- Reinstate and expand Trump’s Muslim ban
