In light of the major storms that are supposedly coming this weekend, a number of hosts have already sent notices to signed-up folks either definitely moving the rally to next Saturday the 12th, or saying they are considering it.
ALL of us should be going to one of these – but not if it’s not happening. 😉 So, check with the host for your event to see what the plan is. You can find the host by looking at the email you got when you signed up.
AND, as I learn more details, I’ll post them below.
Be safe, folks!
Update from Louisville: We are STILL on for today! However, due to the weather and the worsening conditions later in the afternoon we will just be doing the march component of this event. The march will span 10 blocks, starting and ending at Metro City Hall! For those who want to attend but cannot or do not wish to march, you can still chant along with us at Metro City Hall.
Update from Morehead: Not sure if my last e-mail went through. Weather on Saturday is uncertain, but since this a national day of action, we plan to carry on, unless it appears that conditions are dangerous. We will have 3 canopies set up and there is a gazebo on-site for some protection from rain. Hope to see you all there! Let's stand up and speak out!
Update from Northern Kentucky: Our leadership team has decided to reschedule our event for Saturday, April 12. The location and time have not changed. If you've ever been to an event or meeting with us, we have ALWAYS placed the safety of participants above everything else. There are just too many unknowns in this case where we feel the risks are greater than the potential benefits of not rescheduling. We have to consider that we have over 400 people signed up for this event with an additional 300+ who are maybes. It is our greatest hope that you will still be able to join us next Saturday and will pass this information on to those who have indicated they would also come out as well as anyone who may have told you they would come if the weather wasn't a factor.
Update from Western Kentucky: In view of the now 100% chance not only of rain and periodic thunderstorms, but the likelihood of dangerous flooding on side roads as more than 12 inches of rain get dumped over the next four days, we are postponing the event to April 12th.
Update from Owensboro: With Kentucky weather being what it is, we had hoped the storms would be out of the area by tomorrow but it doesn't look to be the case. We are postponing the rally to Saturday, April 12th, same time 1-3.
Update from Lexington: We'll be there rain or shine, so wear your rain gear and maybe cover your signs with clear packing tape or clear bags. If the forecast changes to thunder storms or other severe weather, we will cancel for everyone's safety.
