On to this month’s results!

Question 1 – Kamala Harris

Comments

  • It’s about time I get to vote FOR someone instead of always voting AGAINST someone.
  • I’m 69 and have been a political junkie all my life. I’ve never seen this level of excitement and engagement. Even rises above what we saw with Obama!
  • Joe Biden handled it with grace and finesse. Harris is the perfect follow-up; her time as VP has prepared her for this role in a way that she wasn’t prepared in 2020.
  • Reluctant to suggest Biden was too old but wandered how he would be 2 or 3 years down the road.
  • She brought hope and joy to the ticket. Choosing Walz as her running mate is a stroke of joyful genius.
  • She’s younger and brings a lot of energy, brings in younger people to the party.
  • Very balanced ticket reflective of this great country. Diversity is our strength!
  • It’s exciting to see the joy & energy: Huge increase in volunteering for canvassing, GOTV activities.
  • I am thrilled about the energy and momentum we are seeing for Kamala. I deeply respect Biden's history of service but also his decision to withdraw from the campaign, and think it was essential. Harris has barriers to overcome, since the opposing candidate has no scruples or integrity, but I feel hopeful.
  • Wouldn’t have maybe picked her in a crowded primary, but she is proving to be great for the party.

Question 2 – Tim Walz

Comments

  • From what I have read, he seems like a good choice. Older white male with social problems and solutions experience. Generally affable and can bring electoral votes.
  • Finally! A normal guy who likes to get things done for the people! Seems to have no hidden agenda. Has a sense of humor and brings joy, not hate, rage, fear and cruelty.
  • Absolutely loving Walz – who wouldn’t! He is kind but tough, and a great counterpart to Harris.
  • As much as I love Andy Beshear, I think Walz is strategically the best possible choice. He checks all the boxes: policies, ability to work across the aisle, ability to handle pressure, and I’d love to have a cup of coffee with him.
  • Was an unknown to me and initially disappointed it wasn’t Shapiro but the more I learn I understand the decision.
  • Amazing choice! He could easily step into the presidential spot should anything happen to President Harris.
  • Midwestern, Lutheran, retired enlisted guardsman, my age ... I’m thrilled.
  • Great choice! Loved Andy, but …. Waltz reminds me of Harry S. Truman!
  • Perfect selection — the Midwestern, pheasant-hunting, dad-jokes-cracking person we needed.
  • Love him and have for a long time.

Question 3 – President Biden

Comments

  • It made me proud to be an American. His example of putting country over self should be a model to all office holders.
  • He is a wonderful legislator and has accomplished a lot. However, the slowing that comes with age was an easy target for the Republicans, and his dropping out when he did caught them flat-footed, as his age was their primary campaign issue.
  • He’s an American hero.
  • It’s a shame his distinguished career of public service had to end this way.
  • As always, Biden did what he thought was best for the country.
  • I still think there was a whole lot more planning that went on behind the scenes, to make this a great accomplishment of catching the Repugs off guard.
  • I am glad I got to witness a man putting good of the country over self interest.
  • One of the most unselfish acts from a President in our lifetime. He truly put country over self. Extremely grateful for his leadership and amazing results he’s attained for our country. I marked sad because I wish he was 10 years younger and could do 4 more years, but old age shows no mercy.
  • His decision may allow a history-making victory in November for the Democrats.
  • I have worried about whether he waited too long, but now as it’s playing out, he may have gotten it just right, i.e. after Trump chose Vance and the Republican convention put him on the record about some things and his plans for how to oppose Biden were set.
  • I was terribly upset at first, and I had wanted him to stay. It has however at least seemed to have been a great move; time will tell.
  • It must have been tragic for him, but I hope he will understand that we so appreciate all he has done for our country. And I hope he will continue to make himself available to Kamila for consultation if she wins the election.
  • At the end of the day he did what was best for the country. I would argue he should have done it last year so we could have had a very big and full of talent primary but better late than never. I would say it has made me like him more than when he was the candidate.
