When I saw it, I thought of Oscar Wilde’s observation about the obtuse: “Irony is wasted on the stupid.”
Safety? Trump’s your guy if you’re white (supremacist) and wear a red MAGA hat.
He’s not if you're a person of color, notably an immigrant with “bad genes,” a trade unionist, public school teacher, “woke” college prof, believer in a woman’s right to sovereignty over her body, LGBTQ, and anybody else who’s not of the “Jesus is my Savior, Trump is my president” persuasion.
Nor does Trumpian “safety” include protecting our NATO allies who might be threatened with aggression from Vladimir Putin, Trump's Svengali.
Crime? Trump is the only former president who is a convicted felon – 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up hush money he paid to a porn star. Harris is an ex-prosecutor and California attorney general who doesn’t have a rap sheet.
Anyway, the sign perfectly encapsulates the absurdity of Trump and his campaign. The wording sounds like the grunt of a cartoon caveman: “Trump safety. Harris crime. Oogh.”
No matter – millions of Trump loyalists believe the sign because in the MAGA cult, it’s always “Trump said it. I believe it. That settles it.”
