Teresa Barton, the Democratic state senate candidate for district 20, has already garnered endorsements from four Kentucky governors. Three of them are Democrats, so are not surprising – but the fourth is former Republican governor, Ernie Fletcher.

The three Democratic endorsements are current Governor Andy Beshear, former governor Steve Beshear, and former governor Paul Patton. Her opponent, Gex Williams, has a number of endorsements of his own – but no governors.

Over her career, Barton has successfully worked with officials from both parties. She was twice elected Judge-Executive for Franklin County, working in a bi-partisan way in that position.

Later, she was chosen by Fletcher to head up his Office of Drug Control Policy. Under her leadership, the first Kentucky Recovery centers were built. After that, she moved up to Deputy Secretary of the Justice cabinet under Fletcher.

In a communication with Forward Kentucky, Barton said she intended to release more endorsements as the campaign season progresses, but she was glad to release these four endorsements now.
