Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell once again fell silent and appeared to freeze during a press conference in Covington on Wednesday. This followed a similar episode in Washington in July.

During the press conference as he was answering questions, McConnell appeared to freeze for about 30 seconds. When he resumed, he did not answer the question he had been asked, and his answers at first were hard to understand.

Obviously, two episodes like this have raised concerns about McConnell’s health. However, today (Thursday) he was cleared by his doctor, Brian Monahan, who said, “I have consulted with Leader McConnell and conferred with his neurology team. After evaluating yesterday’s incident, I have informed Leader McConnell that he is medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned. Occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in concussion recovery and can also be expected as a result of dehydration.”
