A policy analyst debunks “slow recovery” claims being used to cut the safety net
Dustin Pugel is a Senior Policy Analyst with the KY Center for Economic Policy. On February he posted a Twitter thread about the claims of some that the economic recovery in Kentucky is slow, so we need to cut the safety net. As he pointed out, not only is that not true, but it is actually counter-productive.
Here is that thread.
Through the rest of #kyga22 we’re going to hear a lot of false claims about a slow recovery to justify painful cuts to the safety net.

I just wanted to come here to say those claims aren’t true. We’re in the midst of a historically strong recovery.🧵https://t.co/XtWVQTTPxS pic.twitter.com/eGXFj8mx7h
