Hello, let’s talk about who’s going to decide this election.

So before we talk about that, let’s do the traditional normal YouTube stuff. If you like this video, please click the like button, if you want to see all of our work or be notified when we do some more, click the subscribe button, and if you want to check out our website, it’s ForwardKY.com.

So why am I picking on women, people of color, and young adults? I mean, shouldn’t everybody decide this election?

Well, the reason that I’m highlighting those three is because the white male vote appears to be locked in already. And unfortunately, it’s locked in with a majority of white males voting for Trump, which just goes to show you how stupid the male of the species can be sometimes.

So, everybody says this is going to be about turnout. Well, it’s really going to be about turnout for these three groups. So let’s talk about that for a minute.

Women, why do you need to come vote in this election? I think it’s obvious about reproductive rights, but not just abortion. If we wind up with a Republican Congress and a Republican president, we’re talking about losing a right to IVF, we’re talking about losing the ability to choose your birth control, we’re talking about making women second class citizens in lots of different ways. It’s truly an existential election for anybody who is a woman. So I hope that you and all your friends and all your friends’ friends and your family and everybody you know goes to vote for Democrats, goes to vote for Kamala Harris, because it’s a serious threat to you if she doesn’t win.

So I think that’s pretty easy. Let’s go on to the next one. What about people of color?

Well, if you’ve been listening to Donald Trump recently, you know that if you are an immigrant — I didn’t say “undocumented,” I just said “immigrant” — then you have a possibility of looking at incarceration in some sort of concentration camp or deportation. He’s not going to try and figure out whether you actually are documented or not. He’s just going to go, “If you’re brown, you’re gone.”

And then there’s voting rights. We know without a shadow of a doubt that Republicans want to limit votes by people of color because people of color typically traditionally vote Democratic. So if you wind up with a Republican Congress and a Republican president, you’re talking about losing even more rights to vote.

And now, young adults – frankly, you are our secret weapon in this election.

Young adults typically don’t vote at a very high rate. Who votes at the highest? People like me, senior adults. They vote a lot. Young adults typically don’t turn out.

Now this year, we’re hearing that young adults are getting registered to vote. Young adults are excited to vote. Young adults are determined to vote. Well, let me tell you, you need to be because we’re talking about your future.

Do you have student debt? The Democrats want to help you deal with it, and perhaps lower it. Republicans want to increase your interest rate. Does that sound good? We’ve got all the things about rights that we’ve talked about, but you’ve also got climate change and the climate crisis. Republicans aren’t going to do anything about that. Democrats are going to try to do something about that. Frankly, your future is going to seriously depend on who wins this election.

So if you care about reproductive rights, voting rights, civil rights, human rights, then women, people of color, and young adults need to turn out this election and vote Democratic up and down the ballot – because it is critical for your futures.
