The simmering GOP feud over who gets to run against Andy Beshear next year took another step toward “Boil” over the past few days.
Ag Commissioner Ryan Quarles announced 52 new endorsements of his campaign for governor, from local electeds all the way up to members of the General Assembly. This brings his total list of endorsements to 106. (You can see the list here.)
Meanwhile, Attorney General Daniel Cameron landed one notable endorsement – that of Donald Trump.
“At every level, Daniel has stood out, he will be a great governor of Kentucky, and has my complete and total endorsement,” Trump said.
The question, of course, is whether Trump’s endorsement will be as good for Cameron in 12-14 months as it seems to be right now. Will Kentucky Republicans continue to be Trumpers, or will they consider a “return to normal” with Quarles?
And if Quarles and Cameron split the party, where does that leave Savannah Maddox, the Queen of Anti: anti-vax, anti-mask, anti-CRT, and anti-Beshear?
As for me, I’m buying popcorn futures.
